1946 S Roosevelt Dime

1946 Dime

Coin Dealer Insight: Since this was the initial production year for Roosevelt dimes, the production from the San Francisco and Denver mints was quite high with production at the Philadelphia mint exceeding 255 million dimes. Total production from all three mints was in excess of 336 million which was the highest production of dimes produced until the early 1960s. Due to such high production volume, Roosevelt dimes have a wide variety of Doubled Die and repunch errors, examples of which are the 1946 DDO (Doubled Die Obverse) and 1946 DDR as well as 1946 S/S varieties. Unfortunately, since so many Doubled Die and repunch errors were produced, only the rarest varieties at the highest grades command more than double common prices.

Value: Can usually be found and sold for somewhere between $3.80-$22.00 price dictated by condition, certification, and current demand. Other factors include location, inventory, and urgency of sale.
